We're the first to admit that breakups are serious business--we've nursed each other through enough broken hearts and recuperative viewings of Shirley Valentine to know that. But we try to keep a little perspective when we're giving advice on the matter; after all, a breakup isn't, you know, cancer or war. But you could be forgiven for thinking Em was a little confused on the distinction if you caught her interview on ABC News Now this week: the news anchor asked her to define various terms from our recent book Buh Bye: The Ultimate Guide to Dumping & Getting Dumped as if they were serious, substantiated scientific facts, while Em tried valiantly to pretend that we hadn't just pulled phrases like "leg clinger" out of our asses.
Don't get us wrong: the advice is for reals, but we're just always a little thrown when people ask us, in all seriousness, "So, tell me about teflon breakups" as if we're discussing WMDs. Em also got deep on "passive-aggressive breakups," "returner's remorse," and the pros and cons of ex sex. But hey, if we sometimes get caught up in the importance of our own work, it's only because we care. We really do.

We hate to break it to you schmucks (and we mean schmuck in the most loving, Yiddish-for-penis way): Size matters. There, we said it. But in the immortal words of Einstein (and no doubt he was talking about skin flutes), it's all relative. What's a perfectly shaped cuke to one person is a disappointing pig-in-a-blanket to another and an overwhelming meat loaf to yet another.
