![]() Like we told Mean Girl earlier this week, texting is for flirting and booty calls, not breaking hearts. But unfortunately not everyone out there seems to agree with us. (Or perhaps that's good news for us, because what use will the world have for two sex etiquette doyennes when we all start acting like decent human beings around each other, whether we're booty-calling or breaking up?) A survey out of the UK--which is a year or two ahead of the U.S. when it comes to texting culture, as the Brits adopted the technology earlier than we did--found that nearly 6 million people in Britain have been dumped by text. Six million!! That's like 10 percent of the entire population!! So much for that nation's rumored politesse. In slightly cheerier news, the same survey found that 3 million Brits use their cellphones to send saucy photos to their partners, and the average Brit sends 10 flirtatious text messages each month. And half a million of the most "active" Brits send out more than 100 flirty texts a month...let's hope that's because they're using the text messages as foreplay to build up tension throughout the day, rather than because they keep striking out when they booty-text and have to move to the next name in their speed-dial.
(And for the record, we're with Boinkology:
if we have to call this "flexting," we'll hang ourselves.) So, which
are you more likely to use text messaging for: A) to flirt or ask
someone out; B) as sexy foreplay (possibly with a photo); C) to set up
a booty call; D) to dump someone; or E) to ask your partner to pick up
a pint of milk on their way home from the office?
