On first glance, the poster for the movie Hitman is one of the sexiest things in the NYC subways. But on closer examination, you can actually make out the actress' mons under her negligee. This poster continues the vulvas-on-parade trend of 2007, what with Britney/Paris/Lindsay's commando moments, and My Box in a Box, a clever parody of the SNL skit.
I'm all about frank, open discussion of the female genitals, and we should all be proud of our bodies. Maybe, though, we can be proud of our stuff without sharing it so explicitly with the world. And what made that poster erotic to me was the drape of her negligee, and her assertive pose--the allusion, not the exposure. Is cleavage alone not titillating anymore? Is this a bit too much showing and not enough suggesting, or am I hopelessly old-fashioned? 2 CommentsLeave a comment |

In one sense, revenge sex—when you sleep with your ex's nemesis, roommate, sibling, parent, or pet in order to pay them back for dumping you--totally works: how could your ex not be grossed out / horrified / disillusioned / damaged for life? But unless your ex is a few peas short of a casserole, your cunning plan is sure to backfire, because they'll know exactly why you slept with their paste-eating dork of a sibling, and the most overwhelming emotion they will feel is deep, abiding pity for you.

Hard to say, Dr Kate, since I fancy myself pretty old-fashioned, too. Titilation is so much more than pussies on parade.
Hi Dr. Kate,
I wouldn't consider myself old-fashioned in the least, but I was pretty shocked by this poster. Totally agree with you. I love her pose and garb, but could have definitely done without the exposure.
LOVE your posts! Thanks for writing.
