We love beaver! It's so cute and cuddly. No, we're not talking about the furry love animals in our pants (though we're all about loving what you've got!), we're of course talking about advertising that employs the actual semi-aquatic rodent as a vaginal symbol. We know, it sounds bad--something that should offend our knee-jerk PC sensibilities. But when it's done well, it can be great. Like reclaiming the "the C word" to mean something positive and powerful! We thought the online-only Super Bowl ad for Go Daddy was pretty good. But it doesn't hold a candle to Australia's feel-good ad for the U brand of tampons & pads by Kotex (thanks to Copyranter for the heads up...or would that be heads down?). The commercial features a woman walking down the street, at the beach, in a restaurant, etc., proud of her beaver, taking care of her beaver, becoming best friends with it! If that's not a positive message, we don't know what is. 3 CommentsLeave a comment |

Is this still like other politically charged words? I still feel like I can't call it a beaver, while a woman might have the option to.
G'day from Oz. While I love that ad, it has been the subject of many complaints from women (or 'shielas' in Orstralian) here down under (yes, that was an attempt at a double entendre). Cheers, Aussie Dave.
I'm an American girl, and while I wouldn't ever pick "beaver" as the word for my genitals, I think the commercial is cute, and definitely a positive message. Those shielas need to lighten up!
