love the figleaf post! but is the NY Mag thing really hilarious? it's just like everything else i've read about dupre, basically an anti-sex worker post that takes cheap shots at her for no other reason that the fact that she works as a prostitute. I don't know, I just don't think it's funny to casually call her a "ho" in the title and go on to talk about her "loose morals."
and not surprisingly, the comments are even worse, calling her a bimbo and saying that she's "doing bad," and making jokes about contestants cumming on her chest. i just hate that working in the sex industry makes it so acceptable for people to be so disrespectful - and even in really mainstream publications.
Excellent points, Jessica. We honestly were just amused by it as a post poking fun of reality TV, not sex workers. We don't think they actually come out and say Dupre herself has loose morals (they're talking about the women who go on shows like "Rock of Love"), but yes, the implication is there. And honestly, we didn't even read the comments (unless otherwise stated, when we highlight a blog post we're only giving props to the post not the comments), but you're right, the comments are very lame.
thanks for the response! yeah, the comments are lame. i can only imagine what will happen if she does actually do a show - no doubt that will bring out some of the worst sex worker-bashing in people...
